My Background

I believe it’s vital for students to have at least some idea of their teacher’s background!

I started playing drums when I was around 14 years old (that’s more than 30 years ago) and since then I have played in a variety of bands of all shapes and sizes and in all kinds of places….big, small, near and far and I have always loved the thrill of playing drums in a live band.

Around 5 years ago and although still playing regularly, I decided that I would very much like to get into teaching.

I began with a few private students, in addition to teaching at a number of schools in the area and I’m currently the resident Drum Tutor at Rockschools.

Although my Rockschools teaching keeps me pretty busy, I’m always open to taking on new private students - just get in touch via my Contact page for an informal chat!

As my first love in drumming is always when I’m playing with a band, my teaching focuses in this area. The mp3 player below has a medley of sections of six tracks played by my band identity crisis

There are no special studio effects used and apart from some of the backing vocals, they’re all recorded with the whole band playing each song in one take.

Just click on the “Play” button to hear the medley.
